Jewish Cemetery
Very close to where we live..up on a hill. By the end of the Ottoman Empire there were 305 Jews living in Prishtina. In 1944, many were handed over to the Germans, the few remaining families left for Israel after the war. all that remains are 57 tomb stones. It is not taken well care of as are none of the cemeteries here.
We met some children here that were playing football. They seemed anxious to talk to us but didn't know English. they went to get their cousin, the one in white, who spoke a little English. He was here on a holiday from Germany, he asked us if we spoke German. They loved having their picture taken and were so happy to talk to us...we asked about the big swimming pool in Germia park and they said it was too much money $2.00 euro. There are not a lot of open places for children to play..so many apartment bldgs. so close together. Germia Park is in the hills behind them.
