Yes..there is McDonalds in Macedonia ( how do you like the receipt ?)
The language is Macedonian,, the money is the Dinar...we can use our Visa at most places there.... so we don't have to get different money.
The fountain is marvelous !!! It has lions all around it and sprays up to the rhythm of classical, beautiful music at night is lighted !!
This is the inside of a mosque..it is a large open room with carpet where the men pray. There is a small balcony with very steep stairs if women want to come in covered head, of course. Everyone takes their shoes off and it is also the custom here in Kosovo to take your shoes off before entering anyone's home. There is a fountain/washing place in front of the Mosque with water..soap, towels to dry.. everything you need to wash your sins away!!!!! (can't remember whether is is before you go in or after).
There are statues all over the center..Alexander-the-Great at one end his father at the other end !!!
This is the stone bridge..so so old 1400's It connects the square or center to the old town or bazaar,or market place this is mostly Turkish or Albanian some Macedonians won't even go there.

In the Roman period it was called Scupi and has been inhabited since 4000 B C..there is still an old fortress that overlooks the city from the 6th Century. It was under Byzantine rule,Constantinople, and then conquered by the Ottoman Turks, then conquered by the kingdom of Serbia. It was the capital city of communist Yugoslavia.
